We tend to forget that the Internet, together with social media, is a relatively new phenomenon that's dramatically changed all our lives in the last 20 years. It's accelerating the development of Artificial Intelligence to a point where our political landscape is now a quagmire of confusion, corruption and control - and a place where you literally don't know what (or who) to believe.
In politics, what the Internet has actually done is create multiple echo chambers (watch the first film on this page for a full explanation of what this means). So, you could be talking to your neighbour about your political views, or anything else, and they won't have a clue what you're talking about. This is because they're existing in a completely different echo chamber to your own.
At ALP33, we now see every political party as a separate echo chamber that trades on the concept of comfirmation bias. Whether left wing or right, each party is a breeding ground for compassionate narcisists in one way or another.
In today's world, there's no longer any common thread we can all buy into, and no proper ties that bind UK society together. We're all now part of a political vacuum that could be filled by anything or anyone with a thirst for the intoxication of power. Be it fascism or socialism, the inevitable end result if this situation continues is totalitarian leadership. And as history has shown us, adopting or enabling totalitarianism has always ended in disaster.
The second film on this page, "Paretos Law," shows this is exactly what's happening all over Europe right now due to the collapse of the middle ground and the rapid growth in popularity of extreme left and right wing views. Young people in particular need to quickly wake up to this situation, as they're currently walking blindly into a potential dystopian catastrophe.
Standing as an Independent candidate, our job is to outline the weaknesses and threats embodied by our competitors in this section of our website. For this, we offer no apology in an electoral situation where the number of votes is the sole currency.
The only thing we want here is for others to educate us and point out where we've gone wrong. At which point, we'll apologise for any errors of judgement that have come about from living in our own echo chamber.
