The beached whale
Clinging to the last remnants of Thatcherism, the Tories are now washed up on the shore.
It's the end of an era that promised to preside over economic and cultural liberalism, but has ultimately left us spiritually, morally - and in more ways than one, financially - bankrupt.
The last few years alone have proved the Tories can no longer be trusted with the economy, despite this being the only reason they got elected in the first place.
The analagy of the Tories to a beached whale is perhaps unfair, as most people would do their level best to save a real one! Not so with the Conservatives. The only argument for saving an ideology such as theirs would be an even greater fear of what might replace it.
At ALP33, our gut feeling is that the right wing of British politics will be replaced by something much worse in the coming years.
The only caveat for eradicating the Tories is that a total wipeout in July 2024 could start a chain reaction that completely destabilises the UK. This is because vacuums are always created when institutions such as the Conservative Party collapse.
