Being truthful makes things simpler for everyone. As Mark Twain once said: "If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything."
However, in politics, building up trust is more important than telling the truth.
After all, one person's truth is another person's lie - and it's possible to tell a lie that ultimately gets something positive done (think Santa Claus and getting the kids to get on Christmas Eve!)
Right now, there's a serious lack of trust amongst the electorate.
As you'd expect, this situation is the main reason why so many people are turning their backs on modern day politics and either abstaining from the vote altogether, or spolling their ballot papers.
Currently, there's no one in any of the main political parties who we can implicitly trust to be economical with the truth (see The Characters section of this website for full details).
At ALP33, we believe it's essential to bring trust back into UK politics. Check out the film on this page to find out more.
